Shown is a Napoleonic five francs struck at the Strasbourg mint (mint mark "BB") in 1806. It is a slightly better date. The Strasbourg mint struck French coins until 1870, when it was seized by the Germans during the Franco-Prussian War. The various designs of Napoleonic five francs form eight distinct types of which this is the fifth, struck 1806-07 with a complete set of this type comprising 23 date and mintmark combinations, some very rare. This date is priced[1] about 35% higher than the common date (1806A).

Specification: 37 mm diameter, 25 grams, 0.900 fine silver, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.

Mintage: 659,966[1].

Catalog reference: F.304/3, KM 673.3, Dav-83.
