Sincona sale 95, lot 4465

This specimen was lot 4465 in Sincona sale 95 (Zurich, October 2024), where it sold for 60 CHF (about US$83 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Solothurn, Stadt und Kanton, Vierer 1793, Solothurn. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, vierer of 1793, Solothurn mint. About Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1761, 1789-90 and 1793-98, of which the 1789 and 1797 turn up the most often. This denomination was struck along with a half batzen (two kreuzer, KM 35) and batzen (four kreuzer, KM 41).

Record mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.6 g, billon, 14.5 mm diameter, this specimen 0.62 g.
