Sincona sale 84, lot 535

This specimen was lot 535 in Sincona sale 84 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$189 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 5 Kopecks 1908, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB EB. Uncirculated. From the Soedermann Collection."

This type is listed for 1867-93 and 1901-14. The nineteenth century dates are scarce in nice condition but the later dates are common with, of course, the exception of the proofs.

Recorded mintage: 400,000.

Specification: 0.90 g, 0.500 fine silver, this specimen 0.87 g.

Catalog reference: KM Y19a.1, Bitkin 184.
