Sincona sale 80, lot 2040

This specimen was lot 2040 in Sincona sale 80 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$539 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUSTRALIA | misc, Elizabeth II. 1952-2022. 100 Dollars 2001, Perth. Auf die 100-Jahrfeier der Perth Mint. Bimetall: 7.32 g Feingold, 5 g. Silber. Nur 5'625 Exemplare geprägt, Polierte Platte, Im Originaletui. (commonwealth of Australia, Elizabeth II, 1952-2022, one hundred dollars of 2001, Perth mint, on the centennial of the mint. Bimetallic gold and silver. Only 5,625 pieces struck. Choice Proof. In original box.)"

This self-congratulatory NCLT shows an imaginary gold sovereign inserted in a silver ring.

Recorded mintage: 7,500 authorized, 5,625 sold.

Specification: 7.32 g gold and 5 g silver, this specimen 13.08 g.

Catalog reference: KM 474.
