This specimen was lot 20063 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $2,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Gold 100 Dollars, 1996-P. Perth Mint, Kangaroo Series. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Proof only date. A sharply struck and attractive example with hard mirrored fields and frosted devices. Free of tone, haze or fog." This type, part of the kangaroo series of bullion coins, was struck 1996-97.
