Struck over a "J" Series 600 Reis of Jose I with previous Shield countermark on obverse; issued by decree of 18 April 1809. Highly attractive and enchanting, with very little evidence of any handling and with charming brilliance remaining among the protected areas. Some subtle toning is observed, as well as the revaluation counterstamps of the host coin.
