This specimen was lot 72196 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description<sup>[2]</sup> noted, "[[France|FRANCE]]. 1/3 Ecu, 1721-A. Paris Mint. Louis XV (1715-74). PCGS AU-55. Good strike with attractive tone." The type was struck 1720-23 in large numbers while the adventurer John Law dominated the French government. Many were struck over ''petit Louis d'argent'' struck in 1720. This specimen is from the Paris mint and is common.

This specimen was lot 72196 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[2] noted, "FRANCE. 1/3 Ecu, 1721-A. Paris Mint. Louis XV (1715-74). PCGS AU-55. Good strike with attractive tone." The type was struck 1720-23 in large numbers while the adventurer John Law dominated the French government. Many were struck over petit Louis d'argent struck in 1720. This specimen is from the Paris mint and is common.

Recorded mintage: 7,299,802, all new blanks, a very common date.[1].

Specification: 8.15 g, 0.917 fine silver, 26-28 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by N. Röettiers.
