Stephen Album internet sale 28, lot 1328

This specimen was lot 1328 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, SOUTHERN RHODESIA: George V, 1910-1936, AR shilling, 1936, a lovely example, PCGS graded MS63." Southern Rhodesia, named after diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes, was created a self-governing colony of Britain in 1923. Coinage commenced in 1932. The colony was federated with Northern Rhodesia in 1956 but is now Zimbabwe. This type was struck 1932-36 only.

Recorded mintage: 1,663,000.

Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver, 23.6 mm diameter.
