This specimen was lot 74699 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $1,620. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPANISH NETHERLANDS. Tournai. 2 Albertins, 1601. Tournai Mint. Albert & Isabel. NGC MS-61. A fairly SCARCE and enchanting example that yields an alluring golden-olive hue, this Mint State exemplar also glistens with an ample array of original brilliance. From the David Sterling Collection." This type was struck 1601-07 and 1610. A double albertin d'or was four-thirds of a ducat. It was replaced after 1612 by the souverain d'or. Albert and Isabella were regents for Philip III in the Netherlands.
