This specimen was lot 1243 in Jean Elsen sale 149 (Brussels, December 2021), where it sold for €90 (about US$122 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, OSNABRÜCK, Evêché, Ernst August de Brunswick (1662-1698), AR 24 Mariengroschen (2/3 Taler), 1675. D/ Ecu heaumé. R/ Valeur dans le champ. Très Beau. (Germany, bishopric of Osnabruck, Ernest August of Brunswick, 1662-98, silver 24 mariengroschen of 1675. Obverse: helmeted arms; reverse: value in field. Very Fine.)"
This type was struck 1675-76 when gulden or 2/3 thalers were struck in large numbers in northern Germany. The bishopric was later merged with the bishopric of Munster and both were annexed to Hannover in 1803.
