This specimen was lot 23065 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAQ. 50 Fils, AH 1357 (1938). PCGS MS-66 Gold Shield. The sole finest graded example of the type at either service, this incredibly lustrous Gem offers a vibrant palette, highlighted by cobalt, crimson, magenta, and burnt sienna. Immense eye appeal is on full display, captivating and enchanting the viewer." This type was struck 1937-38 for king Ghazi and is not at all common in nice condition. The monarchy lasted 1921-58.
