This specimen was lot 12039 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 6,400 Reis (Peca), 1758-R. NGC MS-64. Jose I (1750-77)." This type was struck 1751-77 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil.

Recorded mintage: 309,000.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
