Nomisma Aste e-live-auction 3, lot 285
note the 1848/7 overdate

This specimen was lot 285 in Nomisma Aste e-live-auction 3 (Verona, Italy, May 2023), where it sold for 65 euro (about US$84 including buyer's fees). The lot description noted, "Stato pontificio, Benedetto XIV (1740-1758) Baiocco 1741 An. I - R - qSPL. (Papal States, Benedict XIV, 1740-58, baiocco of 1741, year I, scarce, about uncirculated.)" This type was struck at Rome 1740-43 and undated. It is not rare but is seldom seen in nice condition. The Gubbio mint also struck baiocchi in 1741.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 10.6 g, copper, this specimen 11,85 g.

Catalog reference: KM 1154, Munt. 163, Ber-2778.
