Sweden SB518-71580r.jpg

This specimen was lot 71580 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 2 Ore, 1750. Avesta Mint. Frederick I (1720-51). NGC MS-61 BN. Slanted 5. Struck slightly off center on thick planchet. Dark chocolate surfaces. Minimal marks, a few spots of strike weakness at the peripheries. Otherwise a lovely example sure to please. From the Trebuchet Collection." In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = 1 mark and 96 öre = 1 riksdaler. This type was struck 1743-50 and is common in low grade. This date comes with upright 5's and slanting 5's.

Recorded mintage: 353,000 (all varieties).

Specification: 28.3 g, copper.

Catalog reference: KM-437.
