Colombia 1867 peso rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen was lot 1379 in Sedwick sale 12 (Winter Park, FL, October 2012), where it sold for $2,006. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bogotá, Colombia, 1 peso, 1867, encapsulated NGC AU 58, finest known graded by NGC. Super luster, very nice strike, just a few minor marks to keep it from Mint State, which is unknown for this type anyway (at least in the NGS census)." This type was minted at Bogotá and Popayán 1862-68 and is fairly available in circulated condition tho choice specimens are scarce.

Recorded mintage: 44,000.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .723 troy oz ASW, reeded edge, 37 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Restrepo-315.6; KM-139.1.
