Heritage sale 3029, lot 30065
Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1729 ducat rev H3029-30065.jpg

This specimen was lot 30065 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. August Wilhelm Gold Ducat 1729 IHT, AU55 NGC. Obv. Bust right. Rev. Horse prancing left. Lustrous and minimally marked with considerable remaining luster. Rare, and a seldom offered type and date. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman/B.G. Johnson." This issue appears to be an unlisted date of KM 740 but might be KM 772 or KM 788, which lack photos in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.50 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 740?, Fr-694.
