Lubeck 1717 ducat Fr-1494

from the Stack's Bowers 2019 ANA sale, lot 20612

This specimen was lot 20612 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Lubeck. Ducat, 1717. NGC MS-62. Commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Reformation. An exceedingly lustrous, near choice example of this one year type with religious significance. A few light marks and a hint of striking weakness prevents an even higher designation." This one year type is rare even by Lubeck standards. Several other German states commemorated this event.
