This specimen was lot 31121 in Heritage sale 3105 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $1,500. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Saxony. August I 1/2 Taler 1568-HB MS64 NGC, Dresden mint, Kohl-34. A tempting specimen, slightly double struck on the obverse but nonetheless sharp, proudly exhibiting an array of violet, ecru, and azure tones swimming in the fields. Ex. Virgil Brand Collection (Leu Numismatic Auction 70 (October 1997, Lot 7287). From the Cape Coral Collection, Part II." This type was struck 1557-70, all with mintmaster HB. Another half thaler (KM MB155) was struck 1554-70 with mintmaster T; it is rather scarcer.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: KM-MB192.
