This specimen was lot 23299 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $5,875. The catalog description[1] noted, "João V gold 6400 Reis 1741-R, MS63 NGC, a lovely example with full mint brilliance and sharply struck design features. Rare and desirable in this exclusive quality." This type was struck 1731-50 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil tho the early dates are rare.
