This specimen was lot 23638 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $23,000. The catalog description[1] noted,
"RARE DATE JOHN V ISSUE IN STUNNING CONDITION. João V gold 6400 Reis 1743B, MS64 NGC, highly attractive with gorgeous mint brilliance, light adjustment marks on both sides. Extremely rare in this sublime quality. From The H.R. Collection of Brazilian Gold Gems."
This type was struck 1732-50 from Bahia and Rio.
