This specimen was lot 23632 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $13,225. The catalog description[1] noted,
"João V gold 1600 Reis 1743B, toned VF-XF with bold design features. Very rare date."
This type was struck intermittently 1727-50 from Bahia and 1736 only from Rio. All dates are rare.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.58 g, 0.917 fine gold, .105 troy oz AGW.
