This specimen was lot 30926 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro as Prince Regent gold 1000 Reis 1679, XF45 NGC. An appealing piece with well-struck features and subtle toning. Very scarce, particularly in this select quality." This type, listed for 1677-81, was struck during the transition between hammered and milled coinage.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.69 g, .917 fine gold.
