Honduras 1889 10 centavos

Sedwick sale 11, lot 1245

This type was struck in 1884-1900, accompanied by similar five, twenty-five, fifty centavos and one pesos. As dies were extensively reused, innumerable varieties exist. The 1889 is a rare date. The specimen shown was lot 1245 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Honduras, 10 centavos, 1889, rare. Well-struck and richly toned AU with small rim-cut (old), possibly the finest-known example of this key date."
