This specimen was lot 72401 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 10 Rubles, 1900-O3. St. Petersburg Mint. Nicholas II. NGC MS-62. Very radiant, this attractive example displays a beautiful dance of sparkling luster and charming and only lightly contacted details." This type was struck 1897-1911 in sufficient numbers as to be considered a bullion coin. At the time of issue, 8 French gold francs = 3 Russian gold rubles.
Recorded Mintage: 6,021,000 including assayer AP.
Specification: 8.60 g, .900 fine gold.
