This specimen was lot 1141 in Jean Elsen sale 111 (Brussels, December 2011), where it sold for €360 (about US$554 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FINLANDE, occupation russe, Alexandre II (1855-1881), AV 20 markkaa, 1879 S, Petits coups. Très Beau à Superbe. (Finland, Russian occupation, Alexander II (1855-81), gold twenty markkaa of 1879, tiny rim nicks, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type is listed for 1879-80, 1891 and 1903-13 and was struck to the standard of a French gold twenty francs. The first year of issue, 1878, had a slightly different eagle (KM 9.1).
Recorded mintage: 300,000.
Specification: 6.45 g, .900 fine gold, .186 troy oz AGW, 21.3 mm diameter.
