This specimen was lot 33220 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Cent 1900-H MS65 Red and Brown NGC. Satin luster is enhanced by a variety of blue shades gracing the surfaces." This type was struck 1863-1901 in substantial numbers but is not easy to find in nice condition. This subtype is listed for 1879-81, 1899-1901. Hong Kong was seized by the British from China in 1842 and held by them until its return in 1997. In Hong Kong, 100 cents = one dollar; sterling coinage was never used there.
Recorded mintage: 1,000,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 7.5 g, bronze, 27.6 mm diameter.
