Ducat, 1809. PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder." Louis Napoleon was briefly the ruler of the [[Kingdom of Holland]] 1806-10. When he showed signs of independent thinking, his brother Napoleon evicted him and annexed the kingdom to the empire of [[France]]. This specimen was lot 4158 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $793.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Kingdom of Holland. Ducat, 1809. PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder." Louis Napoleon was briefly the ruler of the Kingdom of Holland 1806-10. When he showed signs of independent thinking, his brother Napoleon evicted him and annexed the kingdom to the empire of France. This is the more common of two ducats issued in 1809, the other features a standing knight on the reverse (Fr-323).
