Aureo sale 246, lot 799

This specimen was lot 799 in Aureo y Calicó sale 246 (Barcelona, September 2012), where it sold for 903 € (about US$1,371 including buyer's fees). The catalog[1] noted,

"Carlos IV (1788-1808). 1795. Lima. IJ. 8 escudos. Leves hojitas. Parte de brillo original. MBC-. (Charles IV (1788-1808), eight escudos of 1795, Lima mint, small flaws, some luster, about very fine.)"

This coin was minted 1792-1808 and is the most common Peruvian colonial eight escudos.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
