This specimen was lot 915 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,815. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN, Reino de España. Fernando VII. Second reign, 1813-1833. AV 2 Escudos. Madrid mint. Antonio Rafael Narváez and José Duro Carcés, assayers. Dated 1832 M AJ. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 63. Choice brilliant uncirculated with full luster. No 2 escudos of Ferdinand VII have ever graded higher than this MS 63. Ex Superior Galleries (11 December 1992), lot 1114." This type was issued at Madrid and Seville 1814-33 and is the last issue of the traditional gold two escudos, altho the eighty reales of Isabel II (KM 578) was the same weight and fineness. The Seville mint issues are awarded a premium over the Madrid product. Unlike the two escudos of the Latin American mints, the two escudos of Spain are fairly common.
