Stephen Album sale 43, lot 2148

This specimen was lot 2148 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $48. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES: Wilhelmina, 1890-1948, AR ¼ gulden, 1941-P, WWII issue struck at the United States Mint, Philadelphia, a superb lustrous example! PCGS graded MS65, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was struck in the Netherlands 1937-39 and in the United States 1941-42 and 1945, the Netherlands being under German occupation. In 1949, the Dutch gave up their attempt to reconquer their colony and Indonesia obtained its independence.

Recorded mintage: 34,947,000.

Specification: 3.18 g, .720 fine silver, .0736 troy oz ASW; 18.8 mm diameter.
