These specimens were lot 31145 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $4,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bulgaria: Pair of Certified People's Republic silver Piefort "Year of the Child" 1979 NGC, 1) 10 Leva - PR67 Ultra Cameo, KM-P3, 2) 10 Leva - PR69 Ultra Cameo, KM-P3. Bulgarian mint. The normal issue, the PR67 shows the girl on the right (facing) side of the three children with relatively even hair length on each side of the face. The much scarcer, and unlisted, PR69 example shows normal length hair on the right (facing) side, with extremely short hair on the left (facing) side of the girl's face. Both varieties of the Pieforts are quite scarce, with the "short hair" variety extremely rare." Another ten leva issued in 1979 honored the first Bulgarian cosmonaut. The Communist regime, beset by corruption and an aging leadership, was swept away with the collapse of all the Eastern Bloc regimes in 1989-90.
