Sincona sale 26, lot 3522

This specimen was lot 3522 in Sincona sale 26 (Zurich, October 2015), where it sold for 525 CHF (about US$649 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1/2 Silberdukat 1762. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. FDC. (Netherlands, province of Utrecht, half silver ducat of 1762, scarce in this quality, uncirculated.)"

This type was issued from Utrecht 1761-83. Most have a "cabled edge" but a few minted 1761-66 have a "flowered edge"; the specimen shown here appears to be the first.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 14.12 g, .873 fine silver, .396 troy oz ASW, this specimen 13.55 g.

Catalog reference: Delmonte 1006, KM 116.
