Künker sale 294, lot 3526

This specimen was lot 3526 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,561 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm I. der Soldatenkönig, 1713-1740. Dukat 1719, IGN, Berlin. GOLD. Äußerst seltener Jahrgang. Sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, the Soldier King, 1713-40, ducat of 1719, Berlin mint. Very rare date, very fine.)"

This type was struck at Königsberg (KM 175) and Berlin (shown here) 1719-25. The Königsberg issue is more common tho both are scarce.

Specification: 3.5 g, .986 fine gold, this specimen 3.44 g.
