This specimen was lot 641 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hall. Taler, 1712-GFN. NGC AU-55. Portrait of Charles VI on the obverse. The letters 'GFN' on the reverse refers to the mint official Georg Friedrich Nurnberger in Nurnberg. Toned. Nice strike. From the Rockaway Collection." Schwabisch Hall (so called to distinguish it from Hall in Tyrol), was an imperial city which occasionally issued thalers, generally rare.
Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: Dav-2276; KM-17.
