This specimen was lot 23220 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $95. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAPAN. 10 Sen, Year 6 (1917). NGC MS-67. Struck in year 6 of the Taisho era. Sharply struck with lovely satin luster and lavender toning on the obverse." This type, roughly equal to a dime, was struck 1913-17 and is common in all grades. The superseding type (KM Y45), issued 1920-26, was copper-nickel.
Recorded mintage: 35,170,906.
Specification: 2.25 g, .720 fine silver.
