This specimen was part of lot 40413 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $646. The catalog description^[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Florin, 1925. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. Satin luster with light toning." This type was struck 1911-36 at London, Heaton, Sydney and Melbourne. The dates prior to the late twenties are scarce, especially in nice condition. Australia maintained the sterling silver standard until 1945, years after Great Britain had debased her coins to .500 fine.

Recorded mintage: 2,960,000 for Melbourne and Sydney (the two mints' product is indistinguishable).

Specification: 11.31 g, .925 fine silver, .336 troy oz ASW, designed by W. H. J. Blakemore.
