This specimen was lot 12733 in Stack's Bowers October 2018 auction, where it sold for $630. The lot description noted, "2007-W First Spouse Gold Bullion Coin. Jefferson's Liberty. Proof-70 Deep Cameo (PCGS)." The mint inaugurated the presidential dollar series in 2007. To honor the presidential spouses, half ounce gold coins were issued featuring each of them. Jefferson was long widowed when he was president, so the mint featured Robert Scot's draped bust of Liberty used on coins minted during his administration. A similar thing was done for Andrew Jackson and Martin van Buren.
Recorded Mintage: 19,823 plus 19,815 proofs (all mintmarked "W").
Specification: 15.55 g, 0.999 fine gold, 26.5 mm diameter. Designed and engraved by Phebe Hemphill and Charles Vickers.
