This specimen was lot 1672 in Sincona sale 47 (Zurich, May 2018), where it sold for 60 CHF (about US$72 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANKREICH, Konigreich, Louis XV. 1715-1774. 1/4 Ecu Vertugadin 1716 A, Paris. Réformation. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, quarter écu Vertugadin of 1716, Paris mint, reformed. Very fine-extremely fine.)"
Droulers[2] notes that most examples are struck "flan reformés," i.e., over earlier types. The type was struck until 1718, when it was replaced by the quart d'écu de France et Navarre. It is priced lower than its sister, the écu vertugadin, tho much scarcer.
Recorded mintage: 2,304 on new blanks plus an unknown number "reformed". The rf is the most common date of the type.
Specification: 7.64 g, .917 fine, 25 mm diameter; this specimen 7.57 g.
