This specimen was lot 77232 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $900. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Cologne. Goldgulden, ND (1464-68). Cologne (Riehl) Mint. Rupert of the Palatinate. PCGS Genuine--Filed Rims, AU Details." The archbishop of Cologne was one of the most prolific issuers of gold coins in the late middle ages but output declined drastically after the Reformation.
