This specimen was lot 2620 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €1,150 (about US$1,629 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN AB 1871 · BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND, 2 DM 1958 G. Max Planck. RR Nur 45 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. (Germany, Federal Republic, two mark of 1958, Max Planck. Very rare, only 45 pieces struck, proof.)"
This type, featuring physicist Max Planck, was struck 1957-71. This date is common but the proofs are rare.
Recorded mintage: 10,744,000 plus 45 proofs.
Specification: 7 g, copper nickel, 26.75 mm diameter, edge lettered EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT.
