Bern 1658 2 ducats Fr-121
This specimen was lot 4098 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 6,500 CHF (about US$9,428 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Doppeldukat 1658, Bern. Berner Wappen auf verzierter Kartusche. Rv. Nimbierter Doppeladler. Äusserst selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Kratzer und Druckstelle. (Switzerland, city and canton of Bern, double ducat of 1658, Bern mint. Obverse: Bernese arms in an ornate cartouche; reverse: haloed doubled headed eagle. Extremely rare, Very Fine-Extremely Fine, Scratches and pressure mark.)"
This rare type accompanied a single ducat (Fr-123). It also comes undated (Fr-122). This example is the plate coin in Numista.
