Zug 1750 1/6 assis
This specimen was lot 4612 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$381 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Zug, Stadt und Kanton, 1/6 Assis 1750, Zug. Grosses Zugerwappen, deutscher Schild. Rv. Wertzahl 1/6, zwei Zeilen Schrift und Jahreszahl, unten ein Röschen. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Zug, one-sixth assis of 1750, Zug mint. Obverse: large cantonal arms, German style shield; reverse: value and date, rosette below. Rare, Good Very Fine.)"
The SCWC lists this type for 1747-52, 1756-57, 1761-67. Like many low denomination coins, it is common in low grade but rare in choice condition, no contemporaries thinking it worth hoarding. It was equal to the angster (1/600 thaler).
