This specimen was lot 58 in Schulman auction 388 (Amsterdam, December 2025), where it sold for €9,500 (about US$13,386 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Vlaamse nobel, ZEELAND Provincie 1580 - 1795, 1583, Gold Vorst met zwaard en Zeeuws wapenschild in schip, op achtersteven vlag met zwemmende leeuw DO - MINE. SALVA. NOS. PERIMVS. - . - ZELAN. Kz. leliekruis binnen een polylobe met rozet in het hart, gekroonde luipaarden in de hoeken burcht .MONETA. NOVA. AVREA. COMIT. ZELAND 83 .Uit de Zeeuwse Leeuw collectie. RRR. Uiterst zeldzaam Klein hakje in de rand; een zeer scherp, volledig uitgemunt exemplar. Prachtig. (Flemish noble of 1583, province of Zeeland. Obverse: prince with sword and Zeeland coat of arms standing in a ship; on the stern, a flag featuring a swimming lion; reverse: floriate cross within a polylobe with a rosette at the center; crowned leopards in the angles. Extremely rare, small rim nick; a very sharply struck, fully detailed specimen, extremely fine.)"
This rare type was struck 1583-85 in imitation of an English noble of the fifteenth century. Half nobles also exist.
