This type was struck for circulation in Yugoslavia 1965 and 1973-81 and is worthless in all grades. It was demonetized in 1981. Another five para (KM 42), struck 1965 only, has a smaller '5' within a wreath on the reverse. Other coins for 1965 included a ten, twenty and fifty para and one dinar. The regime came apart after the fall of Communism in 1989-90 and the Balkan Wars resulted.
Recorded mintage: 16,200,000.
Specification: 1.5 g, aluminum brass (85% Cu-14.5% Zn-0.5% Al), 16 mm diameter, reeded edge.
