The Kathiri State of the Seiyun & Tarim is an area in the eastern part of present-day Yemen. It later formed part of the Protectorate of South Arabia, which was eventually annexed by South Arabia, and became part of the Peoples Democratic Republic of Yemen. The example shown is a silver 12 khumsi (or chomsihs).
This specimen was lot 1597 in Steve Album auction #13 on May 18, 2012, and sold for US$260. The lot description[1] reads: "KATHIRI STATE OF SEIYUN & TARIM: Awadh B. 'Umar, 1881-1902, AR 12 khumsi, AH1315, NGC graded Proof 66."
