This specimen was lot 5950 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €120 (about US$167 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRZBURG, BISTUM, Karl Philipp von Greiffenklau-Vollraths, 1749-1754. Groschen 1754, Würzburg, auf seinen Tod. Herrliche Patina, winz. Kratzer, vorzüglich. (Germany, bishopric of Würzburg, Charles Philip of Greiffenklau-Vollraths, 1749-54, groschen of 1754, Wurzburg mint, on his death. Superb patina, minor scratches, extremely fine.)"
Karl Philipp von Greiffenklau-Vollraths ruled his diocese 1749-1754. Unlike his predecessor or his successor, he was not simultaneously bishop of Bamberg. This coin was issued to mark his death. The territory was annexed to Bavaria in 1803.
