Wurttemberg 1606 thaler Dav-7827B
The first specimen was lot 4430 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabruck, March 2024), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,149 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, Friedrich I. 1593-1608. Reichstaler 1606, Christophstal, mit Titel Rudolfs II. Von großer Seltenheit. Min. Henkelspur, schön-sehr schön. Wenn Müseler und Kirchheimer diese Stücke nicht in ihre Bücher aufgenommen haben, kann man diese Münze dennoch als Ausbeuteprägung ansehen. Auch Nau hat die Ausprägung im Zusammenhang mit dem Silberausbringen der Gruben um Freudenstadt gesehen. Es ist eine Parallele zu den Andreas-Prägungen, die auch nicht ausdrücklich sagen, daß sie aus dem Silber der Grube bei St. Andreasberg geprägt wurden. Dies gilt auch für die Schlickschen Joachimstaler und einige schlesische Bergwerksmünzen. Altho Müseler and Kirchheimer did not include these pieces in their books, this piece can still be viewed as a coin. Nau also saw the manifestation in connection with the silver production in the mines around Freudenstadt. It is a parallel to the St. Andrew coins of Brunswick, which do not explicitly say that they were minted from the silver from the mine near St. Andreasberg. This also applies to the Schlick Joachimstaler and some Silesian mining coins.)"
The second specimen was lot 2542 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$4,522 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Württemberg, Grafschaft, 1495 Herzogtum, 1803 Kurfürstentum, 1806 Königreich. Friedrich I. 1593-1608. Taler 1606, Christophstal. Mit Titel Rudolphs II. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. Feine Patina. (Germany, duchy of Württemberg, Frederick I, 1593-1608, thaler of 1606, Christofsthal mint, struck in the name of Rudolph II. Very rare, Good Very Fine, Nicely toned.)"
