Steve Album Auction 53, lot 912

This specimen was lot 912 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "WEST FRIESLAND: United Netherlands, AR silver ducat, 1693/2, ship mintmark, some luster, strange flan shape (not far from octagonal), XF." This type was struck with various mintmarks 1683-1759. The herringship mintmark shown here was used 1693-95.

Recorded mintage: 126,774 for 1693-95.

Specification: 28.25 g, 0.873 fine silver, this specimen 27.96 g.
