Künker sale 264, lot 3273

This specimen was lot 3273 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €220 (about US$284 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WESTFRIESLAND Provinz. Dukat 1604. Ungarischer Typ. GOLD. Min. gewellt, sehr schön +. (province of Westfriesland, ducat of 1604, Hungarian type. Slightly bent, very fine or better.)"

Ducats were struck in the seven provinces of the United Netherlands from the 1580's. Friedberg lists this type for 1586-1605.

Recorded mintage: 327,600 for 1601-05.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3,44 g.
