Steve Album sale 55, lot 2902

This specimen was lot 2902 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN: AE halfpenny token, 1791, Conder token, John Wilkinson, iron master, Vulcan(?) holding a piece of metal with a pair of tongs and striking it with a hammer, ship in background, lustrous with lovely rose highlights, PCGS graded MS64 BN." Wikipedia comments, "John 'Iron-Mad' Wilkinson (1728 – 14 July 1808) was an English industrialist who pioneered the manufacture of cast iron and the use of cast-iron goods during the Industrial Revolution. He was the inventor of a precision boring machine that could bore cast iron cylinders, such as cannon barrels."
